Cervical Leep




A cervical leep procedure may be performed following symptoms associated with vulvar vestibulitis and vaginosis. This procedure takes about 20-30 minutes to complete and the cervix needs about 3-4 weeks to heal. Since a virus causes the abnormal cells on the cervix, this procedure does have a 9-30% reoccurrence rate where abnormal cells may come back. When a Pap smear shows abnormal cells on a females cervix, it is called dysplasia and is caused by HPV. A traditional treatment for this condition is a loop electrosurgical excision procedure, which uses a wire with electricity running through it to cut away the abnormal areas. A cervical leep procedure may be performed following symptoms associated with vulvar vestibulitis and vaginosis.
