A LEEP may be indicated for a cervical problem if a vaginal wart is present or a penile wart on a partner. This procedure is done under anesthetic either at a doctor’s office or at the hospital. It involves cutting away the abnormal lesions with an electric wire. The procedure takes about 20-30 minutes to perform and has about a 3-4 week healing period. A LEEP may be indicated for a cervical problem if a vaginal wart is present or a penile wart on a partner.
