Cryotherapy or cryosurgery are less damaging than a LEEP procedure. When freezing warts the nitrogen is swabbed directly onto the warts, but when treating cervical dysplasia, a cryoprobe with the nitrogen running through it, is frozen and then held against the tip of the cervix. This procedure is performed right in the doctor’s office. Cryotherapy or cryosurgery are less damaging than a LEEP procedure.

Cryosurgery, LEEP Procedure

This procedure is used to remove small areas of abnormal cells on the body. Most commonly this is used for removing genital, flat, or plantar warts and cervical dysplasia. The abnormal cells are frozen with liquid nitrogen and the dead cells than are sloughed-off by the body. Cryotherapy or cryosurgery are less damaging than a LEEP procedure.
