Cold Cone Biopsy




Cold cone biopsy, cryotherapy and several other methods are used for treating abnormalities caused by human papillomavirus. Since it removes a large area of tissue, if all the precancerous cells are removed and no cancer is found, then it works as a treatment for cervical dysplasia. This procedure is used as a diagnostic tool for cancerous cells on the cervix. To reduce the risks, the cervix should be allowed to heal for 4-6 weeks with nothing inserted into the vagina. These risks happen in about 10% of cases.
